The results are in – Jeff Duncan and Club For Growth PAC have won the GOP nomination for the 3rd SC Congressional district by a vote of 37,300 to 35,129. While disappointed in the results, I am not disappointed in the race run by Richard Cash. Richard is a fine man who would have represented the people of the district and not the special interests of those who fund his campaigns. Furthermore, he would have stood for reform in a way that Jeff is simply not interested in pursuing.
To be sure, Jeff will do a fine job in Congress. He will fight for the conservative platform that some Republicans still hold dear. He will probably not embarrass our state the way numerous South Carolina politicians are prone to do. For that, he will receive my vote in November. But he will not make the kind of positive ripples in Congress to promote social, economic, and representational reform the way Richard would have.
Richard, congratulations on a well run campaign free of any regrets.
